アートコレクション作品｜谷敷謙 “floating”chick

流れるプールに作品を浮かべる展示手法が印象的だった、「木目込み（きめこみ）」と呼ばれる日本の伝統技法を用いて、古着を絵画に落とし込んだ谷敷謙さんの作品。

“古着＝着ていた人の記憶や時間が物質化したもの”と捉え絵画に落とし込む考え方、個展会場でお話しした内容、個展会場で見た流れるプールに作品を浮かべる展示手法とその意味など、多面的な要素に心動かされるものがありました。

水に浮かべられていた作品を壁掛けしてみると、また違った印象になります。

着ていた人の記憶、時間が物質化した作品からは、形はないけれど大切なものを思い起こさせてくれます。

The exhibition method of floating artworks in a flowing pool was impressive. The works of Ken Yashiki, who used a traditional Japanese technique called “kimemomi” to transform old clothes into paintings, were particularly striking.

His approach of perceiving “old clothes” as “the materialization of the memories and time of the person who wore them” and translating that into paintings, the content of the discussion at the solo exhibition venue, the exhibition method of floating the works in a flowing pool that I saw at the solo exhibition venue and its meaning, etc. – all these multifaceted elements moved me.

When the artworks that were floating in the water are hung on the wall, they give a different impression.

The memory and time of the person who wore the clothes materialized in the artwork – they don’t have a physical form, but they remind us of something important.
